Murder is the third leading cause of death for native women.

Erased follows three Siouxland families grappling with the aftermath.

  • Paulette Walker went missing in 1985. In 2019, her niece discovered her in California's Jane Doe database. Her family is awaiting the return of her remains to tribal homelands.

  • In 1983, Terri McCauley was found murdered after a night out. The Attorney General refused to pursue her case. Her family is still awaiting justice.

  • While quarantining at tribal facilities in 2020, Lenice stopped responding to family. After receiving no help from authorities, her family drove to the site and found her body nearby. They are seeking answers in her death.
